New Delhi: The government is set to deliver a significant gift to the public starting September 22nd. Everyday items will become significantly cheaper, benefiting both consumers and businesses. New GST rates will come into effect on September 22nd. With the implementation of GST 2.0, everything from food and beverages to everyday necessities will become cheaper. Even the prices of air conditioners and televisions will drop significantly. Cars and bikes will also become cheaper.

This decision was made in the GST Council meeting on September 3rd, 2025. Now, only the 5% to 18% GST slabs have been established across the country. The remaining 12% and 28% GST slabs have been abolished. Most items previously taxed at 28% have been placed in the 28% tax slab. Some products have been included in the 0% GST rate, including several items.

These items are exempt from GST.

Many food products have been exempted from GST. Among them, paneer and chenna will not be subject to any GST. UHT (Uht) milk has been exempted from GST. Previously, it was in the 5% GST slab. Pizza bread, khakhar, chapati, or roti have also been made GST-free. Paratha, kulcha, and other traditional breads have been exempted from GST.

Personal health and life insurance have been exempted from GST. Some life-saving 33 medications have been excluded from GST. Medical-grade oxygen has also been exempted from GST. Sharpeners, crayons, and postal mail previously attracted a 12% GST, but this has now been exempted. Copies, crayons, and pastels have been made GST-free.

Cars and bikes will also become cheaper.r

With the implementation of GST 2.0, cars and bikes will also become cheaper. Vehicles four meters or shorter will become significantly cheaper. Some companies have already started reducing vehicle prices. Bike prices are also expected to decrease significantly. Previously, autos and vehicles were subject to a 28% GST. Now, it has been reduced by 1 per cent to per cent, which is considered a major relief for the common people.
