8th Pay Commission: When Will Your Salary Increase? Know Expected Pay Structure and Latest Updates

The central government has recently approved the 8th Pay Commission. After its implementation, the salaries of central employees are expected to increase significantly. Pensioners will also benefit from it. Typically, the pay commission recommends an increase of 15 to 30 per cent in both salary and pension. When Will the 8th Pay Commission Start?

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw recently said that the 8th Pay Commission recommendations will be ready by the end of 2025 and may start in early 2026. Right now, central employees get salaries under the 7th Pay Commission, which will end on January 1, 2026.

When will employees get increased Salaries and Pensions?

Experts say the 8th Pay Commission will start from January 1, 2026. This means central employees and pensioners will get an increased salary from that date. If there is a delay, the government will add the extra amount later as arrears.

What Will Be the New Salary?

Under the 7th Pay Commission, the fitment factor was 2.57, increasing the minimum salary from Rs 7,000 to Rs 18,000. In the 8th Pay Commission, the fitment factor may go up to 2.86, which can increase the minimum salary to Rs 51,480. Experts estimate the minimum salary may be between Rs 41,000 and Rs 51,480 monthly.

Will State Government Employees Also Get a Salary Hike?

State governments do not have to follow the Central Pay Commission. However, most states make similar changes after the central government’s decision. For example, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu followed the 7th Pay Commission with some changes. So, state employees may also get a salary hike under the 8th Pay Commission with some modifications.
