Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Tuesday announced an extra 3% dearness allowance (DA) and dearness relief (DR) for state employees and pensioners in the Assembly. He called it a Durga Puja gift for employees and pensioners.

The Chief Minister said that even with limited resources, the government has decided to give 3% extra DA to employees and DR to pensioners from October 1. This decision will help 1,05,739 employees and 84,342 pensioners. It will cost the state government about ₹125 crore in the remaining months of this financial year.

How much DA will they get now?

With this increase, Tripura government employees will get 36% dearness allowance (DA), while central government employees now get 52% DA.

In the past few years, Tripura has increased DA step by step: 4% in FY22, 3% in FY23, and 2% in FY24. This means state employees and pensioners have been getting regular increases to help with their financial needs. The government says this increase will give good relief to employees and pensioners during the festive season.

When will central government employees’ DA increase?

Central government employees and pensioners are waiting for the next DA or dearness relief (DR) increase as the festive season starts. Reports say the increase may be announced by Diwali.

Earlier this year, in March, the central government increased DA/DR by 2% for its employees and pensioners. This increase started from January 1, 2025, and the arrears were given to all employees and pensioners. After this increase, central government employees and pensioners now get 55% DA/DR.
