Bullet Train: There is a major update regarding India’s First Bullet Train. People of the country have eagerly anticipated the arrival of a bullet train for quite some time. The construction of the bullet train project has been ongoing for several years, specifically along the Mumbai-Ahmedabad corridor. Once completed, this project will allow passengers to travel swiftly and safely. If everything proceeds as planned, the nation’s first bullet train could start operations on August 15, 2027, connecting Mumbai and Ahmedabad.
During its journey, the train will cover roughly 508 kilometers in just two hours, a distance that currently takes six hours or more to traverse. The inaugural bullet train in India will reach a maximum speed of 320 kilometers per hour, with an average speed of about 300 kilometers per hour.
This bullet train will not only shorten travel time between the two states but will also enhance industry, tourism, and trade. A total of 12 stations will be established along the high-speed corridor between Mumbai and Ahmedabad. The first bullet train will commence its journey from BKC in Mumbai, stopping at Thane, Virar, Boisar, Vapi, Bilimora, Surat, Bharuch, Vadodara, Anand, and finally reaching Ahmedabad.
For your reference, this project is being developed using Japan’s renowned Shinkansen high-speed rail technology. Initially, bullet trains will operate on a single segment, with plans for a gradual expansion to cover all sections.
The Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Project was launched in 2017, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and then-Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe laying the foundation stone. At that time, the goal was to complete the project by 2023. However, due to various factors, the timeline has been pushed back, and the new target is to finish it by August 15, 2027.

The Vadodara Bullet Train Station is being built above Platform No. 7 of the existing Indian Railways station.
