Bhagya Laxmi Yojana: Both the state and central governments have launched numerous schemes to ensure the well-being and safety of daughters. Specifically, the UP government is implementing the Bhagya Laxmi Yojana to curb female foeticide and address gender ratio imbalances. The primary objective of this scheme is to ensure proper upbringing and education for the state’s daughters. Under this scheme, parents receive financial assistance upon the birth of a daughter, and the government continues to provide support during her education.
How to avail the benefits of the scheme
Regarding the benefits, a bond worth ₹50,000 is issued upon the daughter’s birth; this bond matures to ₹2 lakh after 21 years. Additionally, the mother receives ₹5,100 at the time of birth to assist with the daughter’s upbringing. Further financial aid is provided as the daughter progresses in her education: ₹3,000 upon admission to Class 6, ₹5,000 upon admission to Class 8, ₹7,000 upon admission to Class 10, and ₹8,000 upon admission to Class 12. In total, the government provides ₹23,000 in assistance throughout the daughter’s schooling years.

Benefits under this special government scheme are available only to daughters from BPL (Below Poverty Line) families. Furthermore, the family’s annual income must not exceed ₹2 lakh.
