2 October – The entire country’s banks will be closed on 2 October to observe Gandhi Jayanti.
October 10 – Banks in Bengaluru and Kolkata will shut down on October 10 in observance of Mahalaya Amavasya.
October 17 – Agartala’s banks will be closed on October 17 to celebrate Maha Saptami.
October 19 – Banks will close on October 19 in Agartala, Aizawl, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Guwahati, Imphal, Itanagar, Kohima, Kolkata, Patna, Ranchi and Shillong due to Durga Puja, Maha Ashtami and Maha Navami celebrations.
October 20 – Most cities’ banks will be closed on October 20 for Dussehra, Vijayadashami, and Ayudha Puja. That said, banks in Gangtok and Imphal will stay open.
October 21 – Banks in Agartala, Bengaluru, Gangtok, Guwahati, Kochi, Kolkata, and Thiruvananthapuram will close on October 21st to mark Vijayadashami and Durga Puja.
October 22 and 23 – Gangtok’s banks will be closed on October 22nd and 23rd during Durga Puja.
October 26 – Banks in Agartala, Chandigarh, Jammu, Shimla, and Srinagar will close on October 26th for Lakshmi Puja, Parigrahan Diwas, and Maharishi Valmiki Jayanti.
October 29 – Shimla’s banks will be closed on October 29th to observe Karva Chauth.
October 31 – Ahmedabad’s banks will close on October 31st to honor Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s birth anniversary.
Beyond these specific holidays, banks will also remain closed on all four Sundays plus the second and fourth Saturdays of the month.
