Why has RBI declared a holiday for banks today?
According to the Reserve Bank of India’s official holiday calendar, the festival of Indrajatra is being celebrated on September 25. Indrajatra is a major traditional and religious festival celebrated in Sikkim and the adjoining cultural regions of Nepal to express gratitude to Lord Indra, the god of rain and for a bountiful harvest.
For this reason, all public (PSU) and private banks under Gangtok (Sikkim) area will remain closed tomorrow.
