Bank Holidays August: Before heading to the bank, it is crucial to check if it is open on that day, as many individuals aim to handle their banking tasks towards the end of the week, only to discover the bank is closed, resulting in wasted time.

All banks must adhere to the regulations set by the RBI, which include predetermined weekly holidays. This information must be visibly displayed at each branch to prevent inconvenience for customers. Additionally, banks observe closures for state-specific festivals.

Bank branches are shut on Sundays as per RBI guidelines, and they are also closed on the second and fourth Saturdays of each month. Today being the first of August and a Saturday, the branches are open. If you have any banking matters to attend to, you can visit the bank.

On the 8th of this month, the second Saturday, all bank branches will be closed. Similarly, August 15th, Independence Day, falls on a Saturday, leading to bank closures. This day is a national holiday, marking the closure of all government and private offices.

In August, banks will be open only on the 1st and 29th, the two Saturdays out of five in the month. The 8th is the second Saturday and will be a closure. Independence Day on the 15th will also lead to bank closures. The 22nd is the fourth Saturday, another day when banks will be shut. Lastly, on the 29th, the fifth Saturday, banks will reopen. Bank Holiday August List

On August 4th, the first holiday of the month, banks in Agartala will be closed for Ker Puja, a local festival, while banks nationwide will operate as usual.

The second holiday falls on August 8th when banks in Gangtok will be closed, but bank employees in other cities will continue working.

August 13th marks another holiday in Imphal due to Patriot Day, granting bank employees in the region a day off.

Bank employees will enjoy a nationwide holiday on August 15th in observance of Independence Day and the Parsi New Year, resulting in bank closures from Agartala to Vijayawada.

Celebrating the birth anniversary of Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishok Manikya Bahadur, banks in Agartala will be closed on August 19th.

August 25th will see banks closed in Kochi, Vijayawada, and Thiruvananthapuram for the celebrations of Onam, Milad-un-Nabi, and Milad-e-Sharif.

On August 26th, banks in several cities including Belapur, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Hyderabad, Imphal, Jammu, and more will be closed for the festival of Varavafat, while bank employees in other cities like Patna, Raipur, and Srinagar will also have a day off.

The last holiday of the month, on August 28, 2026, will see banks closed in various cities like Ahmedabad, Bhopal, and Jaipur for Raksha Bandhan and other festivals celebrated nationwide.
