Model Y: After all the talk over the years, Tesla is finally entering India. On July 15, the auto major will launch its first Mumbai showroom. The event is likely to be big, and CEO Elon Musk could make an appearance. This is Tesla’s official entry into India’s burgeoning EV market.

First Tesla Showroom in India

Tesla’s first showroom will be in Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) in Mumbai. The company will have its electric vehicles and other advanced technology on display at this site. People will be able to see Tesla’s innovation and EV experience up close for the first time in India.

Tesla Model Y Launching in India

With the opening of the showroom, Tesla is also going to bring its first car in the nation – the Model Y. This electric SUV is going to be shipped from Tesla’s German factory, which produces right-hand-drive cars compatible with India. The anticipated starting price for the Model Y is approximately ₹70 lakh (ex-showroom).

Tesla’s Plans for India

While Tesla will start by importing its cars, the company might also consider local manufacturing in the future. Carmakers that establish manufacturing facilities in the country might be eligible for tax incentives. This could make it simpler for Tesla to set up a factory in India and introduce more products in the country.

Starlink Internet Launch Also Expected

Elon Musk can also make the most of this moment to make the announcement about the launch of Starlink, his satellite-based internet service, in India. Starlink has already been cleared by the IN-SPACe department to provide satellite communications services. The plans are to extend high-speed internet to rural and remote parts of the country. It is still subject to a few more government clearances before it can be rolled out entirely.
