Kwid EV: Electric vehicles are gaining popularity, and carmakers are now gearing up for cheaper models. One such new model has been seen under test, and it could be the ideal pocket-friendly EV for everyday use.

Kwid EV Features

Renault is working on an electric version of its hit hatchback, Kwid, for India. The vehicle was recently spotted testing on Indian roads. This will be the company’s first electric car for the Indian market and will likely be its cheapest EV so far. Renault had previously unveiled a prototype at Auto Expo, and now the final one appears closer to market.

Expected Design

From the outside, the Kwid EV is very much like the petrol variant. The body base seems to be a tad higher, though. There’s an obvious space between the tyre and the wheel arch, which suggests a slightly mounted-up design. The front design is still unknown, but overall silhouette is not unfamiliar.

Interior and Features

Interior photos are yet to emerge, but it should be accompanied by a 10-inch touchscreen and a 7-inch digital gauge cluster, just like the European-spec Dacia Spring EV. Some safety items that could be included are emergency call, ABS, ESC, six airbags, TPMS, and ISOFIX child seat mounting points. The items are meant to make the EV modern and safe.

Battery Performance

On the basis of the Dacia Spring EV, the Kwid EV could have a 26.8 kWh battery and a 33 kW front-wheel drive motor. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in around 19.2 seconds. It should have fast charging capability, which will charge 20% to 80% in 45 minutes. On full charge, it could offer a range of up to 225 km. It is expected to have a top speed of around 125 km/h.
