Maruti Alto K10 vs Renault Kwid : If you are looking to buy an affordable car in 2025, then Maruti Alto K10 and Renault Kwid are two of the best hatchbacks out there in ₹5.5 lakh and less. Both the vehicles are lightweight, trendy, and perfect for city commutes. They are even popular for low maintenance and mileage efficiency. But who should you choose? Let us discuss them briefly.

Starting with looks and design, Renault Kwid has a rugged SUV-inspired design. It has high ground clearance, LED DRLs, and a chiseled front which makes it look bigger than life. Alto K10, on the other hand, has a neat and compact look with a new grille and thin headlights. If you want a sporty and good-looking car, Kwid wins in this area. But if you want a neat, sassy look, then the Alto K10 is the one.

As per engine and performance, both vehicles use a 1.0-litre petrol engine. Alto K10 generates about 67 PS of power and 89 Nm of torque, which is razor-sharp in city conditions. Same power output is given by the Kwid but is slightly heavier in real usage. Both the vehicles have smooth 5-speed manual and AMT gearbox. As far as driving comfort is concerned, both are quite comfortable to drive, but Alto K10 is a notch above.

Feature-wise, both hatchbacks come equipped with touchscreen infotainment systems, smartphone connectivity, power windows, and safety aspects like dual airbags and ABS. Kwid gets a digital instrument cluster as well as a more attractive cabin. Alto K10 is plain but functional. If you’d like some additional styling inside, Kwid is marginally better.

The other major feature in this segment is fuel efficiency. Alto K10 provides around 24.4 km/l, and it is also one of the fuel-efficient cars in India. Renault Kwid provides around 22 km/l, which is okay but less than Alto.

Price-wise, the Alto K10 starts from around ₹3.99 lakh and goes up to ₹5.84 lakh. The Kwid starts at ₹4.69 lakh and goes up to ₹5.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Alto K10 is comparatively cheaper.
