Kia Syros: Kia is gearing up for a grand foray into India’s electric SUV market with the Syros EV. The new model was recently seen testing at a charging point in Kochi. The vehicle was shrouded to conceal its design, but some of the details were still apparent. Window lines, roof rails, shark fin antenna, body-colored ORVMs, and pillars resembled its ICE variant. Even the headlamps and tail lamps also looked the same, demonstrating Kia is preserving the familiar looks for its electric variant.
Kia Syros EV Design
Externally, minor alterations can be anticipated. The front grille might receive a redesign to accommodate the charging port, and EV-specific elements such as green brake calipers and EV badging can be included. The Syros EV’s size should be the same as that of the standard model, so buyers can anticipate a compact yet functional SUV.
Interiors and Features
Inside, Kia can introduce subtle changes to help the EV stand out with its own individuality. New upholstery and trim levels are on the cards, as well as a new instrument cluster that will host EV-specific software. Other than these, the feature list will largely be similar to the ICE-powered model, ensuring the cabin feels roomy and filled with contemporary amenities. This will make Syros EV one of the most feature-packed compact SUVs in its segment.

Battery Pack and Range
Kia has not disclosed the technical details of the Syros EV as yet. Nonetheless, it is believed to perhaps borrow its powertrain from the Hyundai Inster EV, which is set to arrive in India by 2026. Internationally, the Inster EV is available in two battery pack sizes – 42kWh and 49kWh. These provide driving ranges of 300 km and 355 km respectively. If Kia adopts the same configuration, the Syros EV will provide robust range numbers perfect for daily city commutes as well as sporadic long-distance trips.
Price in India
The pricing will be an important aspect for Kia as the Syros EV is entering a very competitive space. News suggests a starting price of approximately ₹14 lakh for the entry-level model and reaching close to ₹20 lakh for the top-of-the-line model. At this price level, it will be undercutting a number of larger EVs and will be competing head-to-head with MG Windsor EV and Tata Punch EV. Kia’s cheapest EV in India today is the Carens Clavis EV, which costs between ₹17.99 lakh and ₹24.49 lakh. The company will provide a more affordable option through Syros EV.
