Jetour T2 Plug-in Hybrid SUV Launch 2026 – Mahindra XUV700 and Tata Safari to get hybrid competition

The Indian auto market kills a new name entry every few months, but this time the case is slightly different. JSW, which has been recognized in the world of steel and infrastructure, is now going to step into the car industry. And the entry is also not the same, but with a strong Jetour T2 Plug-in Hybrid SUV Launch 2026.

JSW Motors has partnered with Chinese auto company Chery to prepare to launch its first SUV in India. The festival season, the new car and hybrid technology combination looks quite interesting. So let’s know its details.

Jetour T2 Plug-in Hybrid

Jetour T2 is a Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) SUV and will be the first offering of JSW Motors in India. It will be assembled at JSW’s new manufacturing plant in Aurangabad, Maharashtra.

Jetour T2 is available in both electric and PHEV versions in the global market, but only the Plug-in Hybrid variant will come in India. This means clear – the company is taking steps to take into account the needs of the Indian market, where demand for fuel efficiency and eco-friendly vehicles is increasing rapidly.

In this SUV you will get a combination of petrol engine and electric motor. That is, drive peacefully in the city on electric mode and rely on petrol over long distances.

Engine and performance

First of all, its engine will be given a 1.5-liter turbo-petrol engine in the Jetour T2 Plug-in Hybrid, which will generate 154hp power and 220Nm of torque. It will be accompanied by a battery pack of 26.7kWh, which will support the electric motor.

Talking about drive layout, this SUV will come in both single-motor front-wheel drive (FWD) and dual-motor all-wheel drive (AWD) options. That is, for those who want adventure and better traction, the AWD version will also exist.

Design

The Jetour T2 looks very bold and modern in design. Sleek LED headlamps and pixels-shape fog lamps in the front give it a futuristic touch.

The model coming to India will come with a JSW badge instead of Jetour. Its ORVMs will be slightly smaller than the global version, so that Indians can fit better according to roads. It will feature a 15.6-inch large touchscreen infotainment system and a 10.25-inch digital driver display.

It will also include premium features such as panoramic sunroof, wireless phone charging, 12-speaker Sony sound system, powered and ventilated front seats. Features such as automatic climate control and 360-degree cameras make it more robust as a family SUV.

Safety

You will know that nowadays customers do not just see power and design, safety is also a big priority. Jetour T2 will feature Level 2 ADAS features, which will give a new level to Driver Assistance. Apart from this, features like Hill-Start Assist and Hill-Dissent Assist will also be found. That is, driving in hilly areas will be much safer and easier.

Launch and price

JSW Motors plans to launch the Jetour T2 Plug-in Hybrid SUV by Diwali 2026. Although the import approval of some Chinese components is delayed slightly, the company is optimistic about launching it in the festival season.

It can cost between Rs 15 lakh and Rs 30 lakh. This SUV in this price range will directly compete with popular SUVs like the Mahindra XUV700 and Tata Safari.
