Hyundai Price Hike: Hyundai Motor India, a leading Indian automobile company, surprised customers with a bold announcement on Wednesday, April 8, 2026. The company has clarified that prices of all its cars will be increased by up to 1% starting May 2026. This decision will apply to Hyundai’s entire portfolio, including popular models like the Creta, Venue, and i20.
However, the price changes may vary significantly depending on the model and variant. If you were considering a premium car from Hyundai, this news is a stark warning. The company has taken this bold step due to ever-rising costs, which will now directly impact customers’ pockets.
Rising Cost Pressure

Hyundai India clarified in its official statement that the continued strong increase in raw material and input costs has significantly impacted the auto industry. The company has long strived to bear the burden of these increased costs to provide strong protection to customers, but the current global and geopolitical situation has made a partial price change a necessity. Hyundai says that it always strives to provide affordable and robust vehicles to its customers, but due to the significant increase in manufacturing costs, it has now become necessary to share this significant 1% burden with customers.
Hyundai Takes Over the Roads
Along with the strong decision to increase prices, Hyundai also shared its recent sales figures, which have been quite impressive. In the fourth quarter (January-March) of FY2026, the company sold a total of 208,275 units, achieving a strong year-on-year growth of 8.7%. Hyundai recorded its strongest quarterly sales since its inception, with 166,578 units sold in the domestic market. The company’s performance is also strong internationally, with exports growing by a robust 9.4%. In March 2026 alone, Hyundai further cemented its strong position by selling 69,004 units.
March 2026 Performance
March 2026 was a historically strong month for Hyundai, with domestic sales of 55,064 units, the highest ever for any March month. This is a strong 6.3% increase over March 2025, demonstrating the continued trust Indian customers have in Hyundai’s robust architecture and technology. Company MD and CEO Tarun Garg attributed this strong success to the strong updated models like Venue, Creta, and Verna, which have further strengthened Hyundai’s hold in the market.
