It is no longer a secret that Maruti Suzuki is working on new-generation hybrid technology for its existing cars. In the coming times, when pollution rules will become even stricter, this new technology will increase the mileage of the cars as well as prolong their life. The company is currently developing mild hybrid technology for small cars so that better fuel efficiency can be achieved even at a lower cost.
In recent times, there have been many reports of hybrid versions of cars like Baleno, Swift, Fronx, and WagonR. Now a big update has come in this direction – Suzuki has launched the fourth generation Dzire in the Philippines, which was first shown in India in November 2023. So what is special in this new Dzire Hybrid? Let’s know.
Electric assist will now be available
The new Suzuki Dzire launched in the Philippines has the same 1.2-liter, 3-cylinder Z-series petrol engine that is found in the Dzire available in India. But two major changes have been made in it. The first change is that the Dzire Philippines variant gets the 12V mild hybrid system with this hybrid engine. The second big difference is that it uses a CVT automatic gearbox.
Now talking about this mild hybrid system, has a small 0.072 kWh battery, which powers a 2.19 kW (ie about 2.93 bhp) electric motor. This motor gives light torque support to the vehicle and helps save fuel. Apart from this, this system stores energy back in the battery during braking (called energy recuperation) and also provides features like auto start-stop in the vehicle.
There is no change in the power output of the engine, but the performance of the vehicle becomes smoother and mileage is better. Overall, this upgrade makes the vehicle more economical and easier to drive.
Power, mileage, and design
Talking about the performance of the engine, the 1.2-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine produces 81 bhp of power and 111.7 Nm of torque. However, the company has not yet disclosed the mileage of this hybrid Dzire launched in the Philippines.
If we talk about the Dzire sold in India, then the mileage of its petrol manual version is 24.79 km, the CNG variant is 33.73 km per kg and the petrol AMT version is 25.71 km per liter. From this, it can be estimated that the mileage of the Philippines variant with hybrid technology can also be quite good.
As far as its design is concerned, it seems that the Dzire launched in the Philippines can be made in India itself. It looks similar to the Indian Dzire both from the outside and inside. A large black grille is visible from the outside, and a dual-tone interior has been given inside, which has a good combination of nutmeg brown and bluish-black. Overall, this version looks premium and is also a step ahead in terms of technology.
These amazing features will be available in Suzuki Dzire
Talking about the features of Suzuki Dzire launched in the Philippines, it has almost all the same features that are available in the version available in India. Some of the special features of the car include a 9-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, cruise control (comfortable in long drives), remote boot (dickie) opening facility, automatic climate control, follow-me-home headlamps, LED headlights, reverse parking camera.
This car looks very strong in terms of safety. It has safety features like 6 airbags, an Electronic Stability Program (ESP), and Hill Hold Control. Overall, in this new Dzire, you are getting a complete package of comfort, connectivity, and safety, which makes it an all-rounder compact sedan.
