FASTag: From August 15, the FASTag annual pass scheme will become operational in India. With this pass, jeep, car, and van owners can pass through toll plazas for a mere ₹15 per journey for a whole year. The pass is priced at ₹3,000 and allows 200 journeys. This implies no more paying high toll fares every time, which makes daily travelling much easier on the pocket.
What is FASTag Annual Pass
The FASTag annual pass is a pre-paid toll scheme for non-commercial personal cars. It links with your current FASTag, hence no new tag is needed. Your FASTag should be active and mapped with your vehicle’s registration number. This plan only functions on toll plazas of NHAI and the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. It saves time, traffic, and arguments at toll plazas, providing a quicker and smoother travel.
Where It Will Work
This annual pass is only valid on national highways and expressways controlled by NHAI. Some examples are the Delhi–Mumbai Expressway, Mumbai–Nashik, Mumbai–Surat, and Mumbai–Ratnagiri corridors. On state highways or municipality toll roads, normal FASTag fees will be applicable. Some of them are Mumbai–Pune Expressway, Samruddhi Mahamarg, Atal Setu, Agra–Lucknow Expressway, Bengaluru–Mysuru Expressway, and Ahmedabad–Vadodara Expressway.
How to Activate FASTag Annual Pass
As per Indian Highway Management Company Limited (IHMCL), the pass is only accessible through the Rajmargyatra mobile app or NHAI portal. Initially, check your vehicle and FASTag eligibility. After verification, pay ₹3,000. The pass will be activated on your existing FASTag within two hours. No need to buy a new tag. The validity will be for one year or upon taking 200 toll journeys, whichever is earlier.
Direct Savings for Regular Travellers
If toll rates are average, 200 journeys cost approximately ₹10,000. In this scheme, the expense is a mere ₹3,000. This amounts to a direct saving of approximately ₹7,000 annually. The pass cannot be transferred and is valid for use only with the enrolled vehicle. It is a big advantage for regular users of national highways.
