Bike cover: As the monsoon moves over the nation, most of the cities are suffering from moderate to heavy showers. For two-wheeler owners, riding during such times is not only a discomfort but also a challenge. But now, there is a one-of-a-kind bike rain cover which is making waves on the internet, claiming to address all these issues and more with a revolutionary design.
Design that Covers It All
The highlight of this cover is its large roof that goes from the front to the rear of the bike. It protects not only the rider’s head but also goes over the seat area, providing almost full upper-body protection. This makes the rider feel like they are in a car, even though they’re on a bike. Its see-through design provides easy visibility while staying stylish.
Durability and Visibility Combined
The cover material is hard and robust, offering the necessary strength when it rains heavily. Strong but transparent is what this material is, even when used for the cover. This means that road visibility is never compromised regardless of the weather. Surprisingly, even without the addition of built-in rain wipers, the cover proves to work really well when there is rain, as witnessed in viral videos.
Inspired by a Viral YouTube Build
This concept first gained prominence after a YouTube channel called Meanwhile in the Garage posted a video of this custom-built roof. It was specially designed by its creator for the monsoon season and was fitted on a Yamaha YZF1000 R1. Step by step, building and fitting the roof was revealed in an hour-long detailed video. In due course, the creator dubbed this project HBM Machines.
Not Only Functional, but Fashionable as Well
This innovative roof isn’t merely for protection—it gives the bike a fashionable touch. The plastic top is topped with a black glass finish, projecting a sleek and cutting-edge look. Although there’s no assurance whether this product will ever reach stores, its popularity online is proof of robust demand. It might not keep the lower half from getting wet, but it still improves comfort and the overall experience while riding under rains.
Could This Go Commercial?
Currently, there is no news if this bike rain roof will be produced in large quantities or sold for commercial use. It is still a bespoke DIY project. But because of its practicality and increasing demand, it has potential to be a hit product if commercialized. More innovation could bring features such as rain wipers and improved lower-body protection.
Trending Amid Popular Bike Models
As cyclists discover accessories such as this to make their bike more functional during rain, some of the most popular bikes are also being inspected for monsoon capability. Yamaha MT-15 V2, Royal Enfield Hunter 350, and Hero Splendor Plus XTEC are some of the most sought-after models right now. Such an accessory integration would further make it convenient to use these bikes in harsh weather conditions.
