Kawasaki KLX: Indian adventure and off-road bike riders have something to cheer about. Kawasaki has made a substantial move by reducing the price of the KLX 230 by ₹1.30 lakh. Originally priced at ₹3.33 lakh, the bike now has an ex-showroom price tag of just ₹1.99 lakh. This puts it in an even stronger position in its segment, going head to head directly with Hero’s XPulse 210.
Price Drop
Kawasaki’s decision to manufacture the KLX 230 in India has significantly reduced production costs. The company states there are no changes to the engine or core features. Riders will still get the same capable dual-sport machine known for its performance on rough terrains.
Made in India Build
The KLX 230 keeps its front telescopic suspension and rear monoshock configuration, providing 240 mm and 250 mm of travel in the front and rear respectively. It uses a 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wire-spoke wheel configuration. With a 265 mm ground clearance, it is well-equipped for tough trails. Braking power is provided by disc brakes at both ends, and the bike carries 7.6 litres of fuel capacity in its tank.
Engine and Performance
Hidden under the seat is a 233cc air-cooled single-cylinder engine and a 6-speed gearbox. It develops 18 bhp and 18 Nm of torque. The figures may not look massive, but the bike’s 136 kg weight and long-travel suspension make it a good off-roader for adventure touring riders.
Hero XPulse 210 Rival
In India, the KLX 230’s nearest competitor is the Hero XPulse 210, which is priced at ₹1.75 lakh (ex-showroom). Similar to the Kawasaki, it comes with long-travel suspension — 210 mm on the front and 205 mm at the rear — as well as a 21-18 wire-spoke wheel combination. It also receives a high front fender, slim profile, and dual-channel ABS with disc brakes at both ends.
