Indian consumers who are searching for a roomy electric family vehicle will have another choice very soon. Kia is launching the Carens Clavis Electric, a 7-seater MPV, on 15 July. Post the unprecedented success of its petrol variant, Kia wants to capture hearts with this electric vehicle. Increased demand for EVs makes this the ideal time for the brand to launch a feature-packed, India-sourced electric MPV.
Premium Features Will Surprise
Carens Clavis Electric will come with a panoramic sunroof to provide the cabin with an airy and open feel. Kia will provide an 8-speaker Bose audio system for a premium music experience. Ventilated front seats and a 4-way powered driver seat will ensure comfortable long drives. Paddle shifters are also available to provide a sportier experience behind the wheel.
Strong Competition in EV Space
This electric MPV will face competition from the likes of Maruti e-Vitara, MG ZS EV, Tata Curvv EV, Mahindra BE6, Hyundai Creta EV, and even those from Honda, Toyota, Skoda, and Volkswagen. Being one of India’s first three-row electric MPVs, Carens Clavis will make quite a presence.
Possible Battery Packs
Although Kia has not confirmed the exact battery pack for the Carens Clavis Electric, it is expected to carry similar options to Hyundai’s EVs. The Hyundai Creta EV, for example, offers a 42kWh battery with a 390 km range and a 51.5kWh battery with 473 km range. Its motor output reaches 133bhp and 169bhp. Since both Hyundai and Kia share technology, Carens Clavis may take the same route, offering great performance and high range for Indian roads.
Comfort Details
Kia has equipped Carens Clavis with a premium, contemporary cabin. Top variants will feature a Navy Blue and Beige cabin theme, whereas lower variants will incorporate a Black and Beige combination. In the interior, two 12.3-inch displays — one for infotainment and another for the instrument cluster — are provided. A two-spoke steering wheel with touch-sensitive surfaces allows easy switching between AC and media settings.
Cabin and Seating Feel
The Carens Clavis has soft beige leatherette seats and a captain seat configuration in the mid-row, increasing comfort for families. Its dual-zone climate control, rear air conditioning vents, and connected car features will ensure the drive is smoother than ever. Kia has engineered this vehicle to keep pace with today’s lifestyles while also being practical for large Indian families.
