8th Pay Commission: The 8th Pay Commission has not extended the deadline for submitting the memorandum. In its letter dated May 29, 2026, the Commission made it clear that no further extensions would be granted. Through this letter, the Commission extended the deadline for submitting the memorandum to June 15, 2026, but no new date has been given since.

Why is the 8th Pay Commission holding meetings?

The 8th Pay Commission is engaging with employees and pensioners across the country to prepare its report. These meetings discuss issues such as salaries, pensions, allowances, and working conditions, helping the Commission understand what central government employees expect from it.

Why did the government choose not to extend the deadline any further?

This deadline was initially extended in May after numerous employee organizations, pensioner groups, and stakeholders raised concerns that technical issues on the website and other factors hindered their ability to submit memorandums online. However, the government has now decided that the June 15th deadline will be the final one. Consequently, no new memorandums will be accepted after today.

The June 15th deadline will also apply to stakeholders who are set to meet with the Commission. Employee and pensioner organizations from various states are scheduled to meet with Commission Chairperson Justice Ranjana Prakash Desai and other members this month and in July.

When is the Lucknow meeting for the 8th Pay Commission?

The 8th Pay Commission has announced that it will conduct meetings in Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, on June 22 and 23, 2026 (Monday and Tuesday). According to a message on its website, stakeholders who wish to engage in discussions in Lucknow must request an appointment by June 10, 2026, by providing their unique Memo ID, which is generated upon submitting the memorandum on the Commission’s website (https://8cpc.gov.in). The specific venue and detailed schedule for the meeting will be shared later.

After the Lucknow meetings, 8th Pay Commission officials will meet with stakeholders in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, on July 6-7, 2026. This will be followed by another round of discussions in Kolkata, West Bengal, on July 9-10, 2026.
