What is the major change?

The new Aadhaar app focuses on mitigating this issue. Users will now be able to verify their identity via QR code and share only the specific information required. This reduces the need to hand out Aadhaar copies and lowers the risk of data misuse.
What features does the new Aadhaar app offer?
The new app includes Aadhaar verification via Face ID and a QR code-based contact card. Users can lock and unlock their biometric data with a single click and choose to share only specific information as needed. The UIDAI has extended the free online facility for updating Aadhaar documents by another year. People can now update documents related to their identity and address on the Aadhaar portal without incurring any charges. According to the UIDAI, this facility will remain available until June 14, 2027; previously, it was scheduled to be available only until June 15, 2026.
Will data need to be transferred from mAadhaar to the new app?
No. Users will not need to manually transfer data from mAadhaar to the new Aadhaar app. After downloading the new app, one simply needs to verify the mobile number linked to the Aadhaar, complete face authentication, and set up the profile again. The app will then be ready for use.
