Aadhaar Card Rule Change: Good news for Aadhaar Card holders. Aadhaar card has become the most important identity document for almost every Indian today. This is why UIDAI periodically updates Aadhaar-related rules and services to ensure that people’s information remains secure and cannot be misused.
Now Aadhaar holders will not have to pay any fee for updating their email
Now a piece of good news has come for Aadhaar holders. UIDAI has decided to make a service free for which people had to pay a fee till now. From July 1, 2026, there will be no charge for updating the email address in Aadhaar. According to the official notification issued by UIDAI, this facility will be implemented from July 1, 2026 and will continue till December 31, 2026. This means that for the entire six months, Aadhaar holders will be able to update their email address without any fee.
Earlier it used to cost Rs 75
Till now, a fee of Rs 75 had to be paid to update the email address in Aadhaar. But after the new decision, this service will become completely free. In such a situation, this is considered a good opportunity for those whose email is not yet linked with Aadhaar or wants to change the old email. UIDAI believes that by linking the email address with Aadhaar, users get important information on time. If there is any misuse of Aadhaar or any important activity related to it, then its information can also be easily obtained. This increases both security and transparency.
UIDAI recently launched a new Aadhaar mobile application to make Aadhaar-related services easier and more secure. Email updates through this app have been made free. However, this exemption will only apply for a specified period, from July 1 to December 31, 2026. After this, UIDAI may review this policy and decide whether to continue charging fees.
Most importantly, this free service is only available if you update your email address through the Aadhaar mobile app. If you use any other method to update your Aadhaar, you may incur applicable fees. Therefore, please check UIDAI’s rules and fees before updating. If your email address isn’t linked to your Aadhaar yet, or you haven’t updated it in a long time, you can take advantage of this feature starting July 1st. This will not only save money, but will also ensure that important Aadhaar-related information is sent directly to your email.
