Lakhpati Didi Scheme: During the budget speech on February 1st, the Finance Minister made an important announcement regarding the economic empowerment of women. Under this announcement, the government declared its intention to further expand the Lakhpati Didi scheme, which will directly benefit millions of women across the country. This scheme focuses on making women associated with Self-Help Groups (SHGs) self-reliant and increasing their annual income. The government clarified that under this scheme, women will no longer be limited to just training. More retail outlets will be opened across the country to sell their products, enabling women to connect directly with the market and create sustainable sources of income.

The main objective of the Lakhpati Didi scheme is to empower women economically. Its goal is to enable women to earn an annual income of at least one lakh rupees through self-employment or small businesses and become self-reliant. Under the scheme, women associated with Self-Help Groups are provided with interest-free loans of up to Rs. 5 lakhs. The government provides interest subsidies on these loans, so women do not bear the burden of actual interest and can easily start or expand their businesses.

Required documents for the scheme

For applying to the Lakhpati Didi scheme, women need an Aadhaar card, PAN card, bank passbook, passport-size photograph, and an active mobile number.
