Australia’s chairman of selection committee, George Bailey, clarified the situation. He said, “Tim David suffered a minor setback last week and was unable to complete a running session, but an examination revealed no impairment. This was simply due to an increased workload. He is still on track for the start of the tournament.”
A clear plan has also been made for Pat Cummins. Cummins, who is suffering from a lumbar stress injury, may join the team a little late in the World Cup. According to George Bailey, if all goes well, Pat will join the team around the third or fourth match of the tournament.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan tour has provided a significant opportunity for young players. 20-year-old fast bowler Mahli Beardman and all-rounder Jack Edwards have been included in the squad for the T20 series in Lahore. Both players could make their international debuts. Beardman had a stellar performance for the Perth Scorchers, and Edwards for the Sydney Sixers in the Big Bash League.
Beardman took eight wickets in the BBL this season, while Edwards took 15. Edwards has previously been part of the ODI squad against India. The selectors believe this series is a great opportunity for young and frontline players to prove themselves before the World Cup.
