Indian Railways: Big news for everyone. Following the passing of a railway worker and his spouse, their dependent daughters won’t need to go to the office anymore for medical services and railway passes. The Railway Board has made it clear to all zonal railways that these daughters will be considered part of the railway family. They will keep receiving all the essential benefits that their parents had. There are currently 1,202 employees working at the district’s stations, with 399 having retired.
These railway staff members receive treatment at the hospital located at Rae Bareli station. Now, Umeed cards will be prioritized for unmarried, widowed, or divorced daughters who are getting secondary family pensions, allowing them to access healthcare at railway hospitals without any issues. Additionally, the window pass will remain active. This pass will now be assigned to the eldest eligible daughter in the family. Other dependents can also be included. Previously, dependent daughters were not able to enjoy the benefits of passes and Umeed cards after their parents passed away. Railway union representatives have been advocating for this change for the last three years. With these clear directives, railway employees’ families will now reap the benefits. This decision will serve as a significant support for women who rely on their deceased father’s pension and benefits.
Sudhir Tiwari, the president of the Railway Men’s Union in Lucknow division, mentions that the organization has been pushing for this change from the Railway Board. Divisional Railway Manager Sunil Kumar Verma confirms that the facility has been put into action.
