New Delhi: A war of words has once again erupted between Iran and the United States. US President Donald Trump has threatened Iran, stating that if the Iranian government suppresses the ongoing protests against the Khamenei regime, the US will intervene to protect the protesters. President Trump issued a clear warning to Iran.

He said that if the Iranian government kills the protesters who are peacefully demonstrating against the Khamenei regime, the US is prepared to protect them. In fact, some people are conducting a peaceful campaign to remove Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei from power. These protesters seem to be hoping for support from the US. Donald Trump’s stance has made the US’s support clear.

Demand for regime change in Iran

People are taking to the streets in Iran demanding a change in power. For the past six days, the protests against Khamenei’s rule have been gaining momentum. These protests, which began due to economic reasons, have now taken on a completely political character. Protesters are chanting slogans like “Death to the dictator” and “Mullahs, leave the country.”

There are also reports of police action and firing against the protesters in Iran, resulting in some deaths. The situation in Iran appears to be changing rapidly. Internet restrictions have also been imposed.

According to human rights organisations, six people have been killed in police firing on protesters in Iran. In Kuhdasht, Amirhesam Khodayarifard was shot in the head and killed by security forces.
