Balika Samridhi Yojana: The central government is running several schemes for daughters. Sukanya Samridhi Yojana is the most famous of these. Similarly, the central government is also running the Balika Samridhi Yojana. The aim of this scheme is to encourage the birth of daughters, bear the expenses of their education and save them from evil practices like child marriage.

Anyway, the campaign of ‘Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao’ has been running in the country for a long time by the current central government. Under this, efforts have been made to keep the daughters of the country safe and to continue their education properly.

Know what is the Balika Samriddhi Yojana?

The “Balika Samriddhi Yojana” was launched by the central government in 1997. Through this scheme, the government provides financial assistance for a girl child, from birth to her education, throughout the years. Initially, upon the birth of a daughter, the mother is provided with financial assistance of Rs 500 upon delivery.

Subsequently, the government provides financial assistance of a small amount at each stage of the girl’s education until grade 10. Under the scheme , only BPL families in urban and rural areas are eligible to receive government assistance upon the birth of a daughter. Only two daughters in a family can benefit from this scheme.

What benefits are available upon the birth of a daughter?

Upon the arrival of a baby girl, the government grants 500 rupees to the mother. In addition to this, there are various forms of financial support for education. This includes an annual amount of 300 rupees for classes 1 to 3, and 500 rupees for class 4.

For Class 5, a Rs 600 aid is provided. The government also allocates Rs 700 each year for classes 6 and 7, and Rs 800 for studies in Class 8. For classes 9 and 10, an annual support of Rs 1000 is given.

Who is eligible to apply?

1. Families living below the poverty line (BPL)

2. The daughter must be under 18 years of age.

3. The family must possess the daughter’s birth certificate.

Application process:

To apply, you need to get a form from the nearest Anganwadi center, Block Development Office, or Women and Child Development Department. After that, attach the required documents, including your daughter’s birth certificate, family BPL card, Aadhaar card, and bank/post office account information.
