PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana: Farmers did not receive any special benefits in the 2026 budget. Before the budget, farmers hoped that the annual amount under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana would be increased, but this did not happen. However, the government has still announced the budget allocation for the scheme.
This time, the central budget has allocated ₹63,500 crore for farmers’ welfare. This means the allocation is the same as the previous year. The government has decided to maintain the same level of funding. This scheme, launched in 2019, provides eligible farmers with financial assistance of ₹6,000 annually.

The government sends three instalments annually.
The central government releases three instalments every year under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana. The main objective of this scheme is to support the agricultural sector by assisting with investments related to farming. Currently, more than 10 crore farmers across the country are benefiting from this scheme.
Since its inception, the government has directly deposited more than ₹3.70 lakh crore into the bank accounts of farmers. This has provided significant relief to small and marginal farmer families across the country. During the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, many farmers hoped that the assistance amount would be increased, but the government has maintained the same allocation this year as well.

Annual funding has fluctuated.
According to some reports, there have been fluctuations in funding every year. In 2023-24, the actual expenditure was ₹61,441 crore, which is significantly higher than the initial estimate. For 2024-25, the initial allocation of ₹60,000 crore was later increased to ₹66,121 crore based on the number of beneficiaries. This shows that the government adjusted the expenditure according to the ground realities.
Amount not increased despite demand.d
Farm organisations have continuously demanded an increase in the instalment amount under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, but no relief has been provided. Nirmala Sitharaman did not mention anything about increasing the instalment amount in her budget speech. In the meetings held in December, they demanded that the amount be increased to at least ₹9,000 to ₹12,000 per year. Despite these demands, the government decided to maintain the existing amount to ensure fiscal discipline.
When will the 22nd instalment arrive?
The next instalment of the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana is expected to be transferred to beneficiaries’ accounts in the last week of February, before Holi. Farmers enrolled in the scheme are eagerly awaiting this payment. So far, 21 insinstalments ₹2,000 each have been disbursed under this scheme. The 22nd instalment is likely to be released by February 28th.
