Launch Delay

You may know that its showcase took place on December 2, 2025, but Maruti didn’t reveal prices then. Now the company has confirmed that the official launch will take place in January 2026, and sales and deliveries will begin that month as well. This delay was a bit unexpected for EV enthusiasts who had been waiting for it, but the reasons are quite genuine.

Why was there a delay

Let us tell you that this is the second major delay for the 2026 Maruti e Vitara. The first one was due to battery supply issues and software stabilization problems. The main reason for the latest delay is the global shortage of rare earth magnets. According to industry reports, the worldwide supply of magnets used in electric motors is running tight.

Along with this, Maruti has adopted another strategy of prioritizing international markets first and then starting deliveries in India. Its production has already started at the Hansalpur plant in Gujarat, but the initial units are mostly being exported.

Price

The Maruti e Vitara will be priced between ₹20 lakh and ₹25 lakh (ex-showroom). This price segment will create direct rivalry with electric SUVs from Tata, MG, and Hyundai. Bookings will also open soon, with the most likely launch month being January 2026.
