The next season of the IPL will be played in 2026. Before that, a veteran bowler from Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) has created history in T20 cricket. This bowler is none other than the world-renowned Sunil Narine, who has achieved a feat in T20 cricket that only two bowlers have previously achieved.
Sunil Narine has reached 600 wickets in T20 cricket. He has become only the third bowler and second spinner in the world to achieve this feat in T20 cricket. Previously, West Indies’ Dwayne Bravo and Afghanistan’s star spinner Rashid Khan had achieved this feat. Narine took his 600th wicket in the second match of ILT20 2025-26. He achieved this feat by dismissing England’s Tom Abell in the match played between Abu Dhabi Knight Riders and Sharjah Warriors. Sunil Narine is the captain of Abu Dhabi Knight Riders in ILT20 and, playing his first match for his team this season, bowled brilliantly. He was quite economical.

It is worth noting that under Narine’s captaincy, Abu Dhabi Knight Riders started their campaign with a win in ILT20 by defeating Sharjah Warriors. Abu Dhabi scored a huge total of 233 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs, thanks to Liam Livingstone’s explosive innings. Liam scored 82 runs in 38 balls with the help of just 2 fours and 8 towering sixes and remained unbeaten. His strike rate during this innings was 215.78. Sherfane Rutherford played an innings of 45 runs.
In response to Abu Dhabi Knight Riders’ mammoth total, Sharjah Warriors could only manage 194/9 despite Tim David’s explosive innings. Narine’s team thus won the first match of the season by 39 runs. For Abu Dhabi, Narine took 1 wicket for just 22 runs in his 4 overs. His economy rate was just 5.50. George Garton, Andre Russell, and Olly Stone took 2 wickets each. Piyush Chawla and Ajay Kumar got one wicket each.
