Consequently, many states, including Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, and Haryana, may announce school holidays in late December or early January due to winter vacations. School holidays in December are declared for two reasons: Christmas and winter holidays. In many states and private Christian schools, schools may be closed for four to eight days around Christmas. Schools are also closed in states experiencing severe winters.
