The question now is, which car will find a place in your garage? Will you join the electric revolution, or will you still rely on the power of traditional engines? Price and Variants

Let’s first talk about the real impact on your wallet. The Mahindra XEV 9S is a premium electric SUV with a starting price of ₹19.95 lakh, going up to ₹29.45 lakh for the top variant. It comes in four variants: Pack One, Pack Two, Pack Three, and Pack Three Above, with different battery options (59 kWh, 70 kWh, and 79 kWh). On the other hand, the Mahindra XUV700 offers a more affordable option, starting at ₹13.66 lakh and going up to ₹23.71 lakh. If you’re on a tighter budget, the XUV700 offers more variants and engine options. Simply put, the XEV 9S is a long-term investment, while the XUV700 still excels in accessibility.

Design

Both SUVs appear large, powerful, and robust, but a closer look reveals the differences. The Mahindra XEV 9S is a robot from the future. It features a closed grille, integrated LED DRLs, triangular headlamps, and glossy black cladding. Its windscreen and body flow are clean and aerodynamic. The most notable feature is its long 2762 mm wheelbase, which provides ample interior space. The Mahindra XUV700, meanwhile, resembles a classic Indian SUV, with plenty of chrome, C-shaped headlamps, and a muscular profile. It comes with 17- or 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels. Both have a panoramic sunroof, but the XEV 9S’s flush door handles and aero wheels give it a distinct identity.

Interiors and Technology

Now comes the cabin. If you’re a technology enthusiast, the Mahindra XEV 9S will be a paradise. Picture this: three 12.3-inch screens dominate the dashboard, powered by a Snapdragon processor. Features like wireless connectivity, 5G support, video calling, and auto park assist are included, along with Harman Kardon audio and Dolby Atmos, making your drive a truly unique experience. The Mahindra XUV700, on the other hand, is no less. It features an AdrenoX system with two 10.25-inch screens, Alexa built-in, and a 12-speaker Sony 3D sound system. In terms of seating, the XEV 9S features sliding and reclining second-row seats and a 15-liter frunk (front trunk). The XUV700 also offers dual-zone climate control and captain seats.

Powertrain and Performance

This is where the two vehicles differ significantly. The Mahindra XEV 9S is fully electric. It comes with 59 kWh, 70 kWh, and 79 kWh battery options, producing 228 bhp, 241.3 bhp, and 281.6 bhp, respectively, and 380 Nm of torque. It charges from 20% to 80% in just 20 minutes using DC fast charging. It features one-pedal driving, boost mode, and multiple regeneration levels. The top variant even comes with intelligent adaptive suspension. The Mahindra XUV700 comes with a 2.0L turbo-petrol engine (197 bhp/380 Nm) and a 2.2L diesel engine (182 bhp/450 Nm). Both engines are available with a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission.

Safety and Security Features

Whether driving or buying a car, safety is paramount. The Mahindra XEV 9S’s safety features increase with each pack. Pack One includes six airbags, a high-strength body, and driver drowsiness detection. Pack Two includes radar and camera-based Level-2 ADAS, blind-view monitoring, and a 360-degree camera. Pack Three even includes the VisionX augmented-reality head-up display and a driver monitoring system. The Mahindra XUV700 is not far behind, offering features like up to seven airbags, an ADAS suite (adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist), a 360-degree camera, and auto-boost headlamps.
