EPFO Interest Update: The Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO ) may soon give good news to its employees. In fact, discussions have begun on increasing the interest rate for the next financial year 2025-26. It is believed that this time the government may give up to 9% interest to PF employees. Currently, 8.25% interest was given in 2024-25, hence this increase will be of 0.75%. If the proposal is passed, then around 7 to 7.5 crore EPF employees will get direct benefit from it. However, no official announcement has been made regarding the interest rate yet. The decision can be taken in the meeting of the Trustee Board.
Who will get how much benefit?
If the interest rate is fixed at 9% then there will be a huge increase in the amount of employees.
If Rs 5 lakh is deposited in the PF account, interest of approximately Rs 45,000 will be received.
You can get up to Rs 36,000 on depositing Rs 4 lakh.
A person depositing Rs 3 lakh will get Rs 27,000 annually.
According to media reports, this proposal could be approved in February. If this happens, additional funds will be transferred directly to employees’ accounts. This will provide financial relief to millions of employed people.
