Major Update For the PM Crop Insurance Scheme, Apply by This Date

PM Crop Insurance Scheme: Under the Prime Minister’s Crop Insurance Scheme, the process of providing insurance protection to wheat and green pea crops has begun in the district this Rabi season. The Agriculture Insurance Company of India Limited has been assigned the responsibility of administering the insurance this year, ensuring financial compensation to farmers against losses due to any natural or natural disaster.

Agricultural Area and Insurance Scope

This year, sowing of Rabi crops is underway in approximately 1.75 lakh hectares in the district. Of this, the target is to sow wheat in approximately 1.45 lakh hectares. The government has clarified that green peas will also receive insurance benefits along with wheat, thereby protecting farmers of both major crops.

Procedure for Kisan Credit Card Holders

KCC holder farmers must contact their respective bank branch and have the premium amount deducted by December 31st. Their insurance registration will be considered complete upon receipt from the bank. Farmers who have not yet obtained a KCC can also insure their crops through the Common Service Centre.

Provisions for Sharecroppers

Sharecroppers who cultivate on partnership or other land can also avail of the scheme. They must submit additional documents certified by the landowner to confirm their rights to farming and crop-related claims.

Required Documents for Farmers

Farmers who do not have any agricultural loans require an Aadhaar card, a latest bank passbook, Khatauni, and an active mobile number. For any information or assistance, farmers can contact the crop insurance company’s toll-free number 14447.

Scheme Objectives and Options

District Agriculture Officer Uday Shankar Singh stated that the main objective of this scheme is to compensate for crop losses due to disasters or natural calamities. If a farmer does not wish to avail the insurance benefit, they can inform their bank branch in writing by December 24th.
