Birth Certificate Link to Aadhaar Card: The need for digital records in the country has increased more than ever. Whether it’s school admission, obtaining a passport, or availing benefits of any government scheme, identity documents are required everywhere. Therefore, the process of linking birth certificates and Aadhaar cards has been initiated. The aim is to ensure that all records are clearly and in one place, from the moment a child is born.
Previously, parents had to apply separately to link their birth certificate with Aadhaar. But now, both documents will be linked in a single process. This will reduce the hassle of filling out forms and eliminate the need to submit the same information again for any government work in the future. Learn the process.
How does linking happen with birth?
After a child’s birth in the hospital, their details are entered at the registration center. This information is then directly transferred to the online CRS portal. The child’s name, date and time of birth, gender, and parental details are added to this registration. In the new system, the Aadhaar processing can also begin from here. The child’s Aadhaar number is entered by selecting the Aadhaar option when applying. Biometrics for young children are not taken immediately.
Therefore, a temporary Aadhaar number is issued first, which can be updated later. The parents’ Aadhaar number, address, and other information must be entered on the same portal. If all the data is correct, the birth certificate and Aadhaar are automatically linked. Since this entire process is digital, there’s no need to travel or stand in line.
How to link already made birth certificate?
If the child is older or you already have both the birth certificate and Aadhaar, linking is still easy. To do this, visit the Civil Registration System website. Create an account using the General Public Sign Up. Log in and open the Birth Registration section. Select the Aadhaar Link option and enter your birth registration number, Aadhaar number, and mobile OTP.
If the records match, the two documents are immediately linked. Where there are errors in the information, the birth certificate must first be corrected. In some states, this facility is also available at UIDAI service centers. Linking makes school admissions, government schemes, insurance, passports, and many other important tasks much easier.
