Big news for everyone. The government has designated Sunil Kumar Chugh and Amresh Prasad, the chief general managers of Punjab National Bank, as executive directors at Canara Bank and Union Bank of India, respectively. Additionally, Prabhat Kiran, the CGM of Canara Bank, has been appointed as executive director at Bank of Maharashtra, while Mini TM, the CGM at Bank of Baroda, will serve as executive director at Indian Bank. In a related move, Amit Kumar Srivastava, the group chief risk officer at PNB, has been promoted to executive director at the same bank. All these appointments will last for three years, starting from November 24.
In August 2025, the Financial Services Institutions Bureau recommended 11 candidates, including those previously mentioned, for the role of Executive Directors, contingent upon the availability of vacancies in the Panel Year 2025-26. The Bureau selected these 11 candidates after engaging with 80 individuals from various nationalised banks between July 19 and August 04, 2025, for the Executive Director positions in Nationalised Banks.
The Bank of India has appointed Pramod Kumar Dwibedi, who was the Chief General Manager at the bank, as its new Executive Director. He took on this role on November 24, 2025, and will continue until his retirement on June 30, 2028, or until further notice.
Dwibedi, aged 57, possesses an MA in Economics and an MBA in Finance. He started his career as a Probationary Officer in 1995 and is a Certified Associate of the Indian Institute of Bankers (CAIIB). Additionally, he has certifications in IT and Cybersecurity from IDRBT, as well as in risk management from the Institute of Risk Management in London. Over his 30-year banking career, he has held significant operational and administrative positions both in India and abroad, with a proven record in corporate and MSME lending.
Union Bank of India has appointed Amresh Prasad, who was the Chief General Manager at Punjab National Bank, as its Executive Director for a term of three years. Prasad brings over 32 years of experience in branch banking, corporate credit, credit monitoring, and transaction surveillance at both zonal and corporate levels. He is a Chemistry graduate and a CAIIB-certified banker, having most recently worked at PNB’s corporate office.
