Many taxpayers are waiting after filing their Income Tax Return (ITR) for the assessment year 2025–26 (FY 2024–25), for their refund to be deposited in their bank accounts. Some people have already received their refund, but many are still waiting. Their only question is, “When will my income tax refund come?” Many taxpayers are also confused about the reason for the delay.
On this matter, CBDT Chairman Ravi Agarwal said that in some cases, the delay happens because the department is reviewing wrong deduction claims made by taxpayers. The Income Tax Department is checking these cases before processing the refund.
