Yamaha unveiled the Aerox-E, an all-electric version of its popular Aerox scooter, at an event in Mumbai. Design
When you first see the Yamaha Aerox-E, you’ll be surprised to see that it looks just as sporty and aggressive as its petrol version. Yamaha has retained its design, making it still feel like a sports scooter. The twin-LED headlight and LED tail-lamp setup have been retained, providing excellent nighttime visibility. However, there are some changes – like the LCD unit replaced by a TFT instrument cluster with app-based connectivity.

The rear section has been redesigned, resulting in a slight reduction in boot space. Ergonomics have also been tweaked to make the riding experience more engaging. Overall, the Aerox-E is perfect for those who want an electric scooter but don’t want to compromise on its sporty looks.
Battery and Performance
The Yamaha Aerox-E’s biggest strengths are its battery and motor setup. This scooter is equipped with dual 1.5kWh detachable batteries, meaning you can remove the batteries and charge them separately. These batteries use high-energy cells designed to improve performance. The motor produces 9.5kW of peak power and 48Nm of torque, making it perfect for Indian roads. The certified range is 106km, which is sufficient for daily city commutes. The scooter weighs 139 kg, which is 13 kg more than the petrol version. However, this weight is due to the batteries and doesn’t significantly impact the riding experience.
Riding Modes and Features
The Yamaha Aerox-E offers four different riding modes: Eco, Standard, Power, and a dedicated Boost mode. Eco mode offers maximum range, while Standard mode is perfect for normal riding. Power mode offers excellent acceleration, and Boost mode provides a short burst of extra performance for quick overtakes. Braking features include disc brakes on both the front and rear, with ABS on the front. The TFT instrument cluster clearly displays all the necessary information, and app connectivity allows you to connect your smartphone to the scooter. Price and Launch
Yamaha has only showcased the Aerox-E, and launch details have not yet been announced. There’s no official information about pricing yet, but experts believe it may be slightly more expensive than the petrol version. In addition to the Aerox-E, Yamaha also showcased the EC-06 electric scooter based on the River Indie, demonstrating the company’s seriousness about electric mobility. The Aerox-E’s biggest competitors in the Indian market will be scooters like the Ola S1 Pro, Ather 450X, and TVS iQube Electric. However, the Aerox-E’s sporty look and detachable battery make it stand out.
