Email ID-SIP: Being an active investor means you have to keep a close eye on many things. One of them is keeping your KYC information up to date. If you’ve recently changed your email address or mobile number, it’s important to update them for your mutual fund investments as well. This will ensure you receive timely notifications and updates related to your investments.
Why is it important to keep your contact information updated?
Here’s why keeping your email ID and mobile number updated is crucial for your investments:
1. Get timely transaction alerts (buy/sell/SIP confirmations)
If you’ve acquired a new mobile number or email address and haven’t updated it, you won’t receive notifications about your mutual fund transactions (such as SIP confirmations, purchases and sales, etc.). Updating your number will allow you to receive instant alerts and keep track of your investments.
2. Receive updates on account statements
When your KYC information is accurate and up-to-date, you receive regular account statements. This allows you to easily track your investment performance, holdings, and portfolio growth.
3. Account Misuse Prevention
If your contact information is outdated, someone else could gain access to your investment account. Only you will receive OTPs and alerts through an updated email and mobile number, keeping your account secure and preventing unauthorized access.
4. Receiving necessary information from the fund house
Fund houses (AMCs) periodically send information such as fund performance, policy changes, NAV updates, or SIP due dates. Keeping the correct email and mobile number updated ensures you receive all this information in a timely manner, helping you make informed investment decisions.
How to update mobile number and email ID?
You can update your information in two ways:
1. Online method
2. Offline method
Know the online method
- Visit the website or app of your mutual fund house or its registrar (CAMS or KFintech).
- Log in with your PAN number and/or registered mobile number.
- Go to the “Profile” or “Service Request” section. Select “Change Contact Details” or a similar option.
- Confirm your identity, for this an OTP will be sent to your old number or e-mail.
- Now enter your new mobile number and/or e-mail ID and submit.
- Another OTP will be sent to your new email address or mobile number. Enter it to confirm the change.
- Sometimes you may also need to provide additional information such as date of birth or bank account number.
Know the offline method
- Download the “Update Contact Details” form from the website of your fund house or registrar (CAMS/KFintech).
- Fill the form correctly in block letters.
- Attach a self-attested copy of the PAN card with the form.
- Sign your signature on the form in the same manner as you did in the first record.
- Submit the form to the AMC or Registrar’s office.
