Aadhaar Card: The Aadhaar card creation process for newborns has kicked off in Bihar. This initiative is being rolled out in over one lakh Anganwadi centers throughout the state to ensure that children are identified right after they are born. The goal of this initiative is to guarantee that kids receive the benefits of all central and state government schemes promptly and directly in their names. In the past, Aadhaar cards were issued only after a child turned one year old, but now they will be created within a month of birth. So, let’s break down how you can apply for a newborn Aadhaar card in Bihar.

Aadhaar service facilities will be launched in Anganwadi centers

As per the Women and Child Development Department, Aadhaar Seva Kendras are being established in all Anganwadi centers across the state. Newborn Aadhaar cards will be processed here. The Aadhaar cards for children will be linked to their parents’ Aadhaar numbers, which will help record both their identity and family details at the same time. Around 756,000 pregnant women in the state are being informed about this new system. Once the Aadhaar cards are created, the relevant data will be forwarded to the Women and Child Development Corporation, the Health Department, and the Education Department, ensuring that children can effectively access the benefits of government schemes.

Newborns will also benefit from health cards

After the Aadhaar cards are issued, the government will also provide health cards for newborns. This will help maintain children’s health records, and they will directly receive benefits from vaccinations and other health-related programs. Previously, benefits were given based on the parents’ Aadhaar number, but now these benefits will be accessible to children through their own Aadhaar number.
