If you are a 7th or 10th pass and dreaming of a government job, there’s good news for you from Jharkhand. The Jharkhand Home Guard Department has released a recruitment notification for a total of 737 posts. Interested candidates can apply online from November 18, 2025, to December 21, 2025. Applications will be made through the Jharkhand recruitment portal, recruitment.jharkhand.gov.in.

A total of 737 posts will be filled under this recruitment drive, of which 667 are for rural home guards and 70 for urban home guards. Selected candidates will be appointed in various blocks of Dumka district, Jharkhand, such as Dumka Mufussil, Kathikund, Shikaripara, Gopikandar, Raneshwar, Masalia, Jama, Jarmundi, Saraiyahat, and Ramgarh.
Educational Qualification and Age Limit
- The minimum educational qualification for Rural Home Guard positions is 7th grade pass.
- For Urban Home Guard positions, candidates must have passed the 10th grade.
- Candidates with higher educational qualifications will be given preference in the selection process.
To apply, candidates must be at least 19 years of age and a maximum of 40 years of age as of January 1, 2025. Age relaxation will be provided to reserved categories as per government regulations.
Selection Process: Recruitment will be conducted in three stages
Candidates will be selected in three stages:
- Physical Efficiency Test
- Hindi Written Test
Technical Efficiency Test (for Urban Home Guard positions only)
Hindi Written Test
Candidates who pass the Physical Test will be required to appear for the Hindi Written Test.
- The examination for Rural Home Guard positions will be of the 7th grade level.
- The examination for Urban Home Guards will be of the 10th grade level.
- This examination will be of 100 marks, with a minimum passing score of 30.

Technical Proficiency Test (For Urban Positions Only)
This examination for Urban Technical Home Guard candidates will be of 100 marks, with a minimum passing score of 30.
Final Selection and Appointment Process
A merit list will be prepared based on the scores in all examinations. Selected candidates will undergo a medical examination and character verification. They will then undergo training, after which they will be appointed to the post of Home Guard.
