What is EPFO Passbook Lite, which will instantly tell you your PF account balance? Know here

EPFO Passbook Lite: The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has recently launched a new facility, Passbook Lite, for its members. Launched in September 2025, the main objective of this facility is to provide easy access to PF (Provident Fund) related information to the members. Now, members can check their PF balance by directly logging into the member portal. Not only this, they can also see how much money has been withdrawn or deposited in their account so far.

Earlier, members had to log in to a separate portal to check PF transactions, but with the introduction of Passbook Lite, this process has become easier. Now, people can check their balance by logging in just once. This facility has been introduced under the EPFO 3.0 reforms.

What is EPFO Passbook Lite?

Passbook Lite is slightly different from the existing EPFO passbook. While the passbook contains a complete record of monthly deposits, interest, and every transaction, Passbook Lite is specifically designed for quick access to essential information. Members can instantly view their total balance, contributions, and past withdrawals.

Members who require a full or graphical display can still use their old passbook. Passbook Lite is especially useful for employees who want to quickly check their PF balances by logging in directly from the member portal, without any hassle.

EPFO has also simplified the downloading of Annexure K from the member portal. Annexure K is a crucial document used for PF transfers when changing jobs. Members can now download it directly from the portal, making it easier to track the PF transfer process upon changing jobs.

Benefits of EPFO Passbook Lite

Many employees previously faced problems logging into the website to view their passbooks or experienced slow access. Passbook Lite provides instant access to PF balance information, allowing them to stay updated on their savings. It’s worth noting that Passbook Lite shows you a summary, but if you need a complete monthly account, you can still view it by logging into the old Passbook portal. Also, keep in mind that Passbook Lite is an additional feature. It will never replace a detailed passbook.
