Life Certificate: After retirement, senior citizens’ entire lives depend on their pension. This is their sole income to cover medications, household expenses, electricity and water bills, and daily needs. If this pension is suddenly stopped, it creates significant difficulties for the family. Often, this happens not due to any serious reason, but rather due to a minor mistake or negligence. The month of November is a crucial month for pensioners. Today, we will tell you what mistakes senior citizens should avoid so that their pension is never stopped, and how to complete important tasks from home.

Biggest reason for stopping pension
The most common reason for pension stoppages is the failure to submit necessary documents on time. The most important of these is the life certificate. A life certificate is a document that proves that the pension recipient is still alive. The government asks for this proof every year to ensure that the pension is being received by the right person and that no fraud is taking place. Pensioners must submit their life certificate between November 1st and November 30th every year. If you fail to do so, your pension may be suspended from the following month.
Submit your Life Certificate from home
Senior citizens no longer need to stand in line at banks or government offices to submit their Life Certificate. The government has digitalized this process. You can now complete biometric authentication at home using your mobile or laptop through the ‘Jeevan Pramaan’ app. You can also have a post office agent come to your home to complete the process. This way, you won’t need to travel anywhere and your pension will continue to be paid on time.

Your Pension May Be Stopped Without These Documents
Besides the Life Certificate, there are some other important documents whose absence or incompleteness can delay your pension. Without proper age proof, your pension may be stopped. You can submit any of the following: Aadhaar Card, Voter ID, Ration Card, Birth Certificate, 10th Grade Marksheet, Passport, or Driving License. Pension can be withheld without proper address proof.
Documents such as your Aadhaar card, electricity card, bank passbook, or ration card are valid. Incomplete bank details can also result in pension withholding. It’s mandatory to include your bank account number, IFSC code, and a copy of your passbook in your pension statement. Incorrect pension information can also cause problems. You must keep your PPO number or pension ID and income declaration certificate accurate.
