Know what the CLAT exam is?

CLAT, or Common Law Admission Test, is a national-level entrance exam conducted annually across the country. This exam provides admission to undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) law programs.

CLAT is conducted by the Consortium of National Law Universities, a group of 22 National Law Universities (NLUs) across the country. Candidates who pass the CLAT exam are granted admission to law degree courses such as BA, LLB (Hons), or LLM.

CLAT 2026: Application Deadline

Online applications for CLAT 2026 will be accepted until October 31, 2025. No applications will be accepted after this date.

The registration process is completely online. Candidates are advised not to wait until the last minute, as increased server load may cause application problems.

CLAT 2026: Eligibility Criteria

UG Program (BA LLB):- Candidates must have passed their 10+2 (10+2) or equivalent examination from a recognised board with at least 45% marks (40% for SC/ST candidates).

There is no upper age limit for this exam.

PG Program (LLM):- Candidates must have passed an LLB degree or equivalent degree from a recognised university with at least 50% marks (45% for SC/ST candidates).

There is no age limit here either.

Application Fee

  • For General/OBC/EWS candidates: ₹4,000
  • For SC/ST/PwD candidates: ₹3,500
  • The fee can be paid through debit card, credit card, net banking, or UPI.

When will the exam be held?

The CLAT 2026 exam is expected to be held in the first week of December 2025. The exam will be conducted in offline mode (pen-and-paper based), and the results are expected to be released by January 2026.
