Bank Holiday Today: If you have pending work at the bank, it won’t be completed on Monday either. Chhath festival is underway, and banks have been declared closed in many states. Previously, banks were closed on the fourth Saturday and Sunday, the weekly holiday.

Today, October 27th, is a complete bank holiday. However, banks will not be closed nationwide for Chhath. Banks in West Bengal, Bihar, and Jharkhand will be closed in India due to the evening offering of Arghya (arghya) during Chhath Puja. Due to Chhath Puja, banks will be closed today, Monday, in many states. Banks in West Bengal, Bihar, and Jharkhand will be closed on the occasion of the Chhathi Maiya festival. Previously, banks were closed on the fourth Saturday, October 25th, and then on Sunday, October 26th. Banks will be closed on October 27th due to Chhathi Maiya Puja.

On October 28th, banks in Bihar and Jharkhand will be completely closed for Chhath Puja. On October 31st, banks will be closed to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. However, banks will remain closed only in Gujarat, while other places will remain open.

Chhath Puja’s Unique Significance

Chhath Puja holds a special significance in Hindu culture. During this festival, the Sun God is appeased through devotional worship. Arghya is offered to the Sun God. The festival is celebrated with great enthusiasm and devotion six days after Diwali.

It holds a special significance, especially in eastern Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Jharkhand. Devotees offer Arghya to the rising and setting sun, praying for happiness, prosperity, and progress. They also pray to Chhathi Maiya for well-being. Devotees observe a waterless fast on this day.

For information, online services will continue in states where banks are closed on Mondays. Account holders can easily conduct transactions through net banking, UPI (PhonePe, Paytm, and Google Pay), and ATMs without delay. Loan filing and other related work with the bank manager will be eliminated.
