If you are thinking of buying an electric scooter, Bajaj Auto is preparing to bring a new generation model of its popular electric scooter Chetak. The company has already launched 35 series of Chetak, and now its updated version has been seen during testing. Bajaj Chetak Electric
Bajaj Auto has made a distinct identity in India’s electric two-wheeler segment. The Chetak EV is the company’s only electric scooter, but its popularity is so that it remains second in electric scooter sales in the country today. Chetak sales are steadily increasing due to GST cuts and increasing EV demand. This is directly countered by models such as TVS iQube, Ola Electric S1 Pro and Ather 450X.
Launch
Although the company has not yet officially revealed the launch date, the new Chetak electric scooter could be launched in 2025 according to reports. Spy shots show that this scooter will see many updates from design to technology. However, the company has currently placed the test model in Camouflage so that its new features remain hidden from the public.
Design and exteriors
The design of the new Bajaj Chetak EV has been made even more modern while retaining the same elegant style as before. Its LED tail lamp is now integrated into a single unit with brake light and turn indicator.
There has been a slight change in the tail section, with new tire hugger and revised number plate positioning. Changes in the side profile do not look obvious due to the camouflage, but the seat is now in a more flat (flat) design, which will make it even more comfortable for riders to sit.
Features and Technology
On the front, the indicators are again fitted to the handlebar area, while the LED headlamps are the same. The new model will see a new switchgear console and updated instrument cluster, which will be more user-friendly than before. Interestingly, the key-less start-stop system was not seen in the scooter during testing, indicating that it may be a mid-spec variant. The company will likely give this feature later in the high-spec variant.
Engine and performance
The new Bajaj Chetak features a hub-mounted electric motor, which will give more efficiency and smooth driving experience than before. It will get the same 3.5 kWh lithium-ion battery pack as in the current model, but is tuned for better performance. The company claims that this scooter will give a range of about 150 km on full charge. The battery is mounted on the floorboard, keeping the balance and ride stability of the scooter excellent.

Price
The current version of Bajaj Chetak Electric is available between ₹1.20 lakh to ₹1.50 lakh (ex-showroom). The price of the new generation model is also expected to be around the same range, although it is possible to increase lightly due to advance features.
