Maruti Victoris
The recently launched Maruti Victoris SUV is receiving excellent response in the market. This SUV is currently available in three powertrain options. 1.5L NA Petrol Engine, CNG Bi-Fuel Version, and Toyota-sourced Petrol Hybrid System.
Now the company is preparing to bring its fourth variant — Bio Gas (CBG) variant. This model will first be introduced in the 2025 Japan Mobility Show. The version will be based on the CNG variant of Victoria, retaining the same under-body CNG storage tank design, making it even more advanced than Tata and Hyundai’s dual cylinder technology.

Engine
The Maruti Victoris Bio Gas version will feature the same reliable 1.5-liter K15 naturally aspirated 4-cylinder engine, which is CBG-friendly with little mechanical modification.
Both CNG and CBG are methane-based fuels, but the company has tuned this engine specifically to cleaner and efficient combustion (Cleaner Combustion). This means that this SUV will not only give more mileage but also reduce pollution.
CNG and CBG
CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) is a non-renewable fossil fuel, which is extracted from the earth as a natural gas. It takes millions of years to be built and is available in limited quantities. Therefore its use is not sustainable for long.
In contrast, CBG (Compressed Bio Gas) is completely renewable fuel. It is made from methane gas produced from organic waste and decay of agricultural residues. The most important thing is that CBG can be produced in a very short time.

Technology
Maruti Victoris is the company’s most technologically advanced SUV ever. It has features like ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System), which also makes it very special in terms of security. This Bio Gas version of Victoris will be offered with the same advanced technology but in a more Eco-Friendly style.

Launch
Now the question arises, will this SUV be launched in India? Currently, the company will present it as a working prototype at the 2025 Japan Motor Show. This means it’s still at the showcase stage. However, it’s expected that if this concept proves successful, a Maruti Victoria’s Biogas version could be launched in the Indian market in the future.
