UPI: At the Global Fintech Fest (GFF) 2025, PhonePe Payment Gateway (PhonePe PG) in collaboration with JioHotstar launched a new service called Subscription IQ. This service will help customers easily set up and manage their recurring payments (subscriptions or bills) using UPI AutoPay via RuPay Credit Cards.
Previously, UPI AutoPay was linked directly to bank accounts. However, payments would fail on subscription renewal dates due to insufficient or no funds in the account. The Subscription IQ service eliminates this inconvenience. With UPI AutoPay available on RuPay credit cards, customers will now be able to pay for their subscriptions using their credit cards, without the need for a bank account balance.
What benefits will users get?
The benefit is that users will be able to enjoy JioHotstar’s nonstop entertainment service without any interruptions. The hassle of monthly subscription renewals will be eliminated. The benefits for merchants and businesses include reducing payment failures, reducing customer drop-off, and providing a smoother subscription experience.
This feature will provide customers with access to a variety of recurring payment modes, such as UPI AutoPay, eNACH, and card-based recurring billing. This will provide merchants with a single platform to manage all types of subscription payments efficiently.

On this, JioHotstar said, “JioHotstar’s priority is to provide a better entertainment experience to its subscribers. This partnership with PhonePe PG will provide users with better and reliable payment facilities, allowing them to enjoy their favorite movies and shows without any interruption and connect with their stories.” This new feature will soon be available to other businesses through PhonePe PG’s subscription suite, allowing people across India to benefit from more reliable and customer-friendly recurring payments.
