When it comes to electric SUVs, every brand is looking to make its mark in the market. Skoda has introduced its most compact and practical EV yet, the Skoda Elroq. It may be small in appearance, but it’s no less impressive than larger models in terms of features and performance. The question arises: will this car be able to make its mark in a market like India? Performance
The biggest plus point of the Skoda Elroq is its power delivery. Unlike many EVs that pick up speed suddenly, the Elroq’s power is delivered in a smooth and balanced manner. This SUV comes in the 85 variant with a 77kWh battery and a 286hp motor, which can reach 0 to 100 kmph in just 6.6 seconds. While driving it on the Autobahn, a top speed of 180 kmph can be easily achieved.
Its balance and stability at high speeds are quite impressive. Tyre noise and wind sound are very minimal while driving, which gives it the feel of a premium EV.
Range and Efficiency
The true test of any electric SUV is its range, and here the Elroq doesn’t disappoint. The company claims a WLTP range of 560 km on a single charge for the 85 variant. While this might be slightly less in the real world, achieving a range of 400 km+ isn’t difficult. This means it’s perfect for both everyday driving and long rides.
Design and Exterior
The Elroq’s front end looks very fresh and modern. Skoda’s new Modern Solid design language is clearly visible here. The Tech Deck panel at the front smartly hides the radar and camera. LED DRLs and a sharp headlamp setup give it a futuristic look.
However, the side and rear aren’t much changed and appear to be a bit more traditional Skoda design. The taillights and sharp crease lines, in particular, remind you of the Kodiaq.
Interior and Space
With a length of 4.4 meters and a wheelbase of over 2.7 meters, the Elroq’s cabin is quite spacious. Rear passengers enjoy ample legroom and headroom. The seats are comfortable, and the deep bolstering makes long rides comfortable.
Boot space is 470 liters, with numerous compartments and smart storage options. There’s even a net under the parcel tray to neatly store the charging cable.
Features and Safety
The Elroq is not lacking in features. It comes with a 13-inch touchscreen, dual-zone climate control, HUD, ambient lighting, and up to 9 airbags. Additionally, ADAS features like predictive cruise control make it even smarter.

One drawback, however, is that its digital instrument cluster is only 5.3 inches, which isn’t very customizable or offers sporty dials.
Price
The Elroq’s price in the UK market starts at £33,000 (approximately ₹40 lakh), making it cheaper than rivals like the Hyundai Ioniq 5, Volvo EX30, and BMW iX1. If this EV launches in India, its pricing and package would make it a strong contender.
