Renault Duster: Renault and Nissan are preparing to stage a grand return in the Indian market with new SUV models. Both the brands have announced their intentions to launch several mid-size as well as 7-seater SUVs from 2026. It is an effort to capture the increasing demand for bigger family cars in the nation. Renault will spearhead the attack with the comeback of the Duster, and Nissan is poised with its new Kait SUV based on the same platform.

Renault Duster Facelift

Renault is returning the Duster after five years with a new face and trendy features. The SUV will be powered by a 1.3-litre turbo petrol motor producing 156 bhp power and 250 Nm of torque. Customers will have the choice of manual and automatic transmission. In the cabin, the Duster will come with dual-zone climate control, panoramic sunroof, Harman Kardon sound system, 10-inch digital driver instrument cluster, and a large central touchscreen infotainment system. The update makes the Duster premium and more competitive in its class.

Nissan Kait

Nissan is introducing its mid-size SUV titled Kait in India. Based on the same platform as the Duster, it will have its own premium design aspects. The front appearance will be unique with a prominent grille, chrome finish, and L-shaped LED DRLs. The interior of Nissan is incorporating more sophisticated features than Duster. They are multi-drive modes, rear AC vents, a 360-degree camera, and a bigger 10.1-inch infotainment display. Powertrain options will not change with the 1.3-litre petrol engine, but Nissan will also provide robust hybrid technology later on.

Renault Boreal 7-Seater SUV

Renault is also gearing up to introduce a 7-seater SUV called Boreal. To be launched in the second half of 2026, it will address families requiring more space. The SUV will be priced between ₹14 lakh and ₹20 lakh. Sitting above the Duster, the Boreal will emphasize comfort, utility, and premium features.

Nissan 7-Seater SUV

Nissan is getting ready to follow Renault’s footsteps with its own 7-seater SUV using the same platform. Set to debut in early 2027, this model will bear a Kait-inspired design with related styling features. It will be powered by the same 1.3-litre engine coupled with hybrid technology and an optional AWD setup. Thus, it emerges as a convenient yet premium choice for customers seeking advanced features in a family SUV.
